Message 2023-09(c) about the second of the appointed fall feasts, a special meeting with Adonai.
I will not cover everything here because some of it I mentioned already in part one (the introduction) and part two (Yom Truah).
Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, which more accurately should be Yom HaKippurim, Day of atonements – plural, because though there is only one atonement but for many sins, roughly to say…
And yes we collected a lot of sins throughout the year – every day more piled up.

Details about that feast is in Leviticus 16
I will not go into all the details but cover a bit from verse 29-34 (using the KJV translation)
29:
And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
30
For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
31
It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.
32
And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:
33
And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.
34
And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.
In the seventh month on the 14th day.
Regardless how you calculate, either the rabbinical mathematical counting, the moon sighting or some might go along even with the Chanoch (Enoch) calendar or whatever, and by that you end up on a slightly different day, roughly a week apart of the first to the last option.
It’s a day every year to afflict your souls and I think Adonai will accept any of these variations and don’t cast you into hell if you don’t pick the one that might be right as some people claim.
Afflict your soul – Here we have the words
תְּעַנּוּ אֶת-נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם
For the word for afflict you can look up in Strongs H6031
It means something like
to be put down, become low, to stoop, humble oneself, weaken oneself
The typical way to do that and is understood, is to fast, even a dry fast accompanied by prayer and mourning – and all… in remembrance for the sins we have done – and we have sinned a lot throughout a year.
Okay, if someone because of medical reasons is not able to fast, he shall not do that.
But if you’re able, do it.
When you look up for definitions in worldly dictionaries about to put down ourselves it gives a whole lot of meanings as well.
For example: Stop, depose, degrade, disapprove, humiliate, squelch, destroy.
Maybe in some respect somehow similar but not necessarily from the same concept what scripture speaks about.
And definitely not to destroy.
Surely doesn’t mean to lay down flat on the floor – maybe only in context to prostrate before the LORD, but it goes more to humble ourselves before Adonai voluntarily out of love and obedience and not humiliate someone else by force.
Afflict your soul – what is soul?
That’s our nefesh, which can mean our soul, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion, passion
You’ll find more about it in Strongs H5315
One of the meaning is seat of appetites and there is where one part of the interpretation of fasting is pointing to, and clearly not far fetched but relative straight forward.
But as it also points to desire, I think this is relative easy to imagine.
Though this might be very hard or even the hardest to put down.
Some people might have the desire to watch TV all day long or some stuff on that certain rectangular toy that is almost glued on many peoples hands.
You only need to look around how this became almost a plague.
A plague of mind control and brainwashing – and this is with all the radiation even not healthy.
Then the desire to eat, and our body permanently have that desire yes, here it comes again… put it down and fast.
There could be many more examples or desire but I’ll leave it up to you to fill the blanks with your desires and how to put them down for a day.
Fast and pray and meet with Yeshua.
May He tells you things you never knew.
And if He speaks through His Holy Spirit, and ask you to do certain things, do it.
But check with scripture if it was truly the voice of Adonai or your own thoughts, ideas or unconscious mind.
If He tells you to pray for your family, neighbor or the homeless around the corner, and tell them about salvation, it us surely from Yeshua, because He wants no-one to perish but everyone to be saved and have eternal life.
If you think the voice tells you to buy a new Mercedes, Ferrari or something like that, it might be very well your own desires and you better put it down – some perhaps permanently.
But it also says in Leviticus you shall not do any work at all on that day.
Not working means no regular work.
Okay, if you are a doctor – not a protocol following murder or a fire fighter and you get an emergency call where lives are in danger, you better go and do it.
Because saving lives is above all laws, even above Yom Kippur.
That’s what pharisees don’t understand.
But if you work in a factory, sales, or business like that, get that day off and also do no work at home even not cooking.
Though if you have children, don’t let them hunger for a day unless they are in an age of accountability and understand what this feast is all about (parents are called to teach them)– but you can also pre-cook a day before or serve other meals where you don’t need to cook at all.
And of course you shall change the diapers on small children.
And by the way, fasting is actually a great treatment to fight cancer, though it requires a longer fast with very careful preparation.
Then we read in scripture the feasts are for everyone, for the children of Israel as much as for the strangers.
I know the discussion when people argue with the death and resurrection of Yeshua, those things are done away or even the whole law is abolished.
But no, it says that this shall be an everlasting statute. To make atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins.
Well, the law of sin and death Yeshua conquered at the cross, but the rest we are to keep.
Heaven and earth will pass away but not the smallest letter or serif of His Word – and His words includes the Torah, from Genesis to Revelation.
Then some may argue, it is only for the Jews.
Yes, there are Jews or claim to be Jews but are not, but that’s another subject.
And Yeshua Himself said, He was not sent except but unto the lost sheep of Israel.
If you are a descendant of Israel you shall keep it.
If you are a descendant of monkeys, then it’s up to you what you like to do, but you may hear one day the sentence: I never knew you.
Also there arguments the temple is no more and also no priests and so on.
Revelation 1:6 and other verses speaks about that we were made priests.
And in second 2 Corinthians 6 verse 16 it says:
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Well, there would be a lot more to say but you can search and listen to good teachers (not prosperity preachers). Someone who is able to explain all the details much better than I do.
But how you know they teach the truth?
Simple:
Take the bible in your hand, and if necessary other tools like concordance and so on and check if the things they teach line up with scripture, or at least don’t contradict, seen in context.
The Bereans did it with Pauls teachings as we read in Acts 17:11.
And they did not had a concordance or advanced tools to search, so the more you are able check it for yourself.
I even encourage you to do it also with the words I say.
Yes, sometimes metaphorical language in prophecies are hard to decipher or find an interpretation.
Whether it is a message or a prophecy, I advice you highly always to ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and understanding because He knows the absolute truth – more than we know altogether.
We prophecy and teach in parts like tiny pieces of a puzzle, but He is able to show you the whole picture.
Uncensored and in Truth.
Yes, Yeshua’s blood washed all sins away and we don’t need to bring anymore any animal sacrifices, because he sacrificed Himself for us, once and forever.
Maybe you can let this Yom Kippur be a day to remember what He has done and therefor humble yourself (ourselves) before Him as an act of obedience and love.
He said if you love Me you will keep my commandments.
For me it’s almost easier to keep His commandments than to cook a good meal – others struggle surely more to repair a washing machine or whatever, for me in cooking.
However,
I wish you a great Chag a precious Holiday where you meet with YHWH, the Elohim of Avraham Yzchak and Yaacov.
May He comes near and speaks to you in a way like never before.
As the prophet IrmeYahu (Jeremiah) has spoken in Chapter 33:3
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
actually, the word for unsearchable can also mean hidden, secret or inaccessible.
May Adonai show you all inaccessible things you need to know
Let this be a marvelous holiday with a successful expectation to meet Him.
