Message 2025/17 From Wood to Wonder (Month 11)
Note:
This message was triggered by a combination of a couple of occurrences in my daily tasks. Not about politics or current shocking events it might not gain a lot of attention, but this is what I want to share

About 2000 years ago, if we have not been lied to about the accurate time and season, there was a carpenter as was his earthly father. My earthly father was not a carpenter, but he was pretty skilled in woodwork, basically an “every-now-and-then-carpenter”, and… this is what I sometimes also do, beside many other things with the skills and talents God put in my bag. I don’t waste my time with things I am not gifted, like teaching, dancing, or programming.
Now recently I laid a new wooden floor in a house, beside other woodwork. The panels for the floor came wrapped in packs of seven boards each; 4 meters long, and there from the print on the packs I basically made the title for this message (something like copy and paste), though my context turns into a very different direction. Well, if I would know some strong guys who run every day into a gym, I would have told them about a great exercise for a good purpose (helping an older man). Carrying 40 packs upstairs with just one or two inches space to get around the corners; should not be too difficult to some of the body builders – just as an exercise. But I think they may have refused anyway, because here in the house are no sexy girls they could attract or entice with their muscular bodies, so I carried all of them up myself.
As for the woodwork with the panels, you can’t avoid cutting off pieces that are not nice, like having cracks, damages, bleed or whatever flaws. Now, even as the wood that I have here is class A, wood is simply wood with all it’s natural inconsistencies. Now as I looked upon the panels, a certain spot in one panel drew my attention where I thought, hmmmm, there is technically no issue but I will cut it off for another reason. Luckily it was almost at the end of the plank, so I had hardly any loss. I don’t like such figures in the floor – it just don’t look nice to me (here you below). Some certain people would dream to have the wood full with such characters… but not me, even though it’s not my house.

Now for other work I use OSB, which stands for oriented strand board. If you don’t know, you can look up and see what it is. The ones I use here are 2,5 meter long and about 67cm wide in various thickness. And of course in woodwork, from time to time it’s necessary to clean up the place – some do it daily, others weekly… And some cut off pieces I keep for other use, but if they are too small, or have a silly shape, I usually dump them. For firewood, OSB is not the greatest mainly because of the glue it contains. Now, as the broom went along the floor and between all the dirt, dust and particles, there was a small cut off piece of OSB on the floor that I was about to pick up and throw away. Interestingly enough, I must have passed by several times, but never saw the sign.

With some wood you can do really wonderful work, like it is written on the packages of the boards for the floor. Well, the original floor was very old, it was dusty, rotten with wobbly planks, more a banana-floor,

so now it is really wonderful to have now a nice clean solid floor. Still some how banana, but better.

Well, OSB is no wood to use for eye catching beauty, it’s more like construction wood. But when I saw this relatively small piece, I thought, it wants to say something. Clearly to see the cross in that piece. And it speaks symbolically of the carpenter 2000 years ago and what He did for us.

The title on packages of the wood is for plural while my message is rather singular – one wonder that contains all wonder in one.
From wood to wonder, or the wonder on the wood, or the wonder of the wood… the greatest wonder in human history, a carpenter, yet not only a carpenter hanging between heaven and earth, beside two criminals on some piece of wood, He was and is the creator of all things. In Greek the word Stavros can actually mean cross, but also pole or staff. We don’t know with absolute certainty if it was a single pole or two beams crossed. Only it was reported that Romans back then usually used crosses for the bad criminals, even though He was not a criminal, but for the scribes and pharisess He was one. And I am sure they had always a good amount (crosses) prepared, like FEMA camps today have already prepared their many guillotines and mass caskets ready for the days to come. If you think it’s conspiracy, Revelation 20 verse 4 gives a hint.
Anyway, this cross embedded in the OSB is actually not photo-shopped, nor have I manipulated anything, nor sought for such a thing. I simply stumbled over it, as I was on the way to pick it up for the dumpster. Now listen to the wonder, the miracle. In midst all dirt and dust there is the cross. Yeshua, born to die on a cross in midst a filthy dusty generation with serpents and vipers in their midst. A carpenter, hanging on some poles of wood patched together.
You know what a carpenter, someone who might thinks he is a king, other than Master Yeshua may have said to the soldiers? Just think about the connection of a carpenter and the wooden cross. Well, maybe something like this: “Hey, the crossbar is not in the right angle to the pole; and it’s anyway very uncomfortable… you should have sanded it nice and smooth before you placed me here to hammer my hands and feet unto this wood with your rusty nails… And by the way, there is a splinter that sticks right into my sensitive behind. I will remember your chairs if you like to sit with me one day at the table in my kingdom!”
No, Yeshua didn’t complain, but He carried all the pain and physical torture beyond imagination on the cross, for our sins – mine, yours, of all generations beginning from Adam til Armageddon, Generation A to Z – or whatever comes next…
Interestingly enough, most people if they see or hear of Yeshuas amazing grace don’t hesitate, but want to toss it as fast as possible, thinking this has no value – and indeed, the message of the cross is foolishness for those who will perish (1 Corinthians 1:18). I have not seen the cross in that piece of wood, that laid on the floor for a while, but realized when I saw it, it’s a picture just of how many people are blind to it. And then, when you actually look around, crosses you see on every corner in some shape or form and different material. The wonder of the cross is beyond imagination. Why the Lord used this way for salvation we might be able to discuss in a theological seminary or meeting, but the depth we possibly may not understand in it’s fullness until the day we stand before Him, the carpenter from Nazareth.
The only sinless man who ever walked on earth, God who came in flesh, between all worldly filth and sin. Those who ignore Him, one day will be cast into the fire, like a piece of wood in a furnace – though wood in a fireplace serves usually a purpose. But after it’s burned, ashes remain, so our body when we die. The only thing we can do with that could be as a reminder to repent daily in sackcloth and ashes. The lake of fire was originally prepared for the devil and his angels only, but sadly, too many people who reject the man on the wood and refuse to repent will end there. The two pieces of wood, crossed and erected at Golgatha with the carpenter from Nazareth nailed upon, makes a difference. The blood Yeshua shed for our transgressions turned to a real wonder. The wonder stated on the packages with the planks is not really a wonder – by a carpenter’s skillful work it can be turned into something useful and beautiful, but that’s it – not more… The carpenter who hung on the tree on the other side, after he was beaten and the crown of thorns punched unto his head, he looked pretty ugly in all the blood, nearly unrecognizable as a human. But this was a real wonder, a wonder that points to life, to eternity. The wood of the original cross is very likely completely rotten throughout the centuries, but Yeshua who hung there is still alive. He hung there to save us from the place where rotten flesh will stink for all eternity. And the other wonder is the fact that we don’t deserve salvation, surely not me, yet by His grace we can, and live in paradise with him, a place greater than any wonderland we could ever dream of. Very different and way more glorious than, to what the witches of Disney and Hollywood are able to present. Well I am wondering how much longer our Lord is
able to watch all the insanity on earth, when even I can hardly bear it, and I see only a tiny little bit (a fraction of all madness). Wonder above wonder… Come Yeshua, come, Bo Yeshua, Bo.
End of Message:
Note:
I am wondering how much longer I will be able to post anything online, basically when the digital Gestapo will be in full swing.
But until that day I say, see you next time
